KENYA'S ACTING FRATERNITY LOSES A SOLDIER: R.I.P BETH MBAYA AKA WANADE
The untimely death of Beth Mbaya famously known as Wanade of Citizen TVs series Mother-in-law came as a shock to many including myself. Especially since good news came out that she was fairing on well and recuperating at home after being discharged from Meridian Equator hospital Nairobi West where she underwent an operation. About two weeks ago, news of her being hospitalized broke out. She was bed ridden to the point that she could not speak. Throat Cancer was the cause of all the pain she was going through. A group on facebook was immediately set up by family member where a multitude of Kenyans posted their get well messages.
One of her closest friends, Suzanne Njoki Nganga (mama Govi of Machachari) posted this message on the group 10 days ago “ONCE AGAIN DEAR ONES,BETH IS DOING GREAT AND SHE REALLY SMILED WHEN I READ TO HER THE NUMEROUS MESSAGES FROM EVERYONE,AMESHUKURU ZAIDI, LETS KEEP ON PRESENTING HER TO OUR JEHOVAH RAPHA ,THE LORD OUR HEALER.”
10th May 2013 will however go down as a day where Kenya’s Acting Fraternity will mourn the death of one of the most gifted actresses that had ever graced our screen. A very passionate woman when it came to the arts, she passed away at her sister's house in Kahawa Sukari. Personally, I dint get to meet the lady but we interacted severally on phone when I would call her to try and get the son, Kamau Mbaya (aka Baha of Machachari) acting gigs whenever he was requested for. From the telephone conversations however, I would tell I’m speaking to a humble, respectful woman who despite all the fame, she could manage to be as polite as a mother can be talking to a son.
“ITS WITH DEEP SORROW THAT WE LET YOU KNOW OF THE DEMISE OF DARLING SISTER BETH NYAMBURA MBAYA AKA WANADE. THANKS FOR THE GREAT PRAYERS KENYANS OFFERED.WE SHALL KEEP YOU POSTED.FOREVER HER SMILE WARMTH AND LAUGHTER WILL BE REMEMBERED.REST IN PEACE PRECIOUS SIZ” was the message posted today morning by Suzanne Njoki.
Married to Robert Mbaya, Beth was a trained teacher by profession but opted for acting instead. She also leaves behind Mungai Mbaya, Knowzone show presenter.
Death always has a way to make one use words like “I wish I had” or “ I should have” and I am not an exception. I wish I had met this fellow thespian. I should have taken time off to visit her at hospital when I could and I am sure that applies to many of her fans and friends out there too. Since we can’t turn back the hands of time, all we can do right now is say “we loved you Wanade but God loved you more”.
MESSAGE FROM FAMILY: "FOR EVERYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEND YOUR DONATIONS TOWARDS THE OFFSETTING OF THE HOSPITAL BILL AND THE EXPENSES AHEAD KINDLY SEND TO THE FOLLOWING NUMBER 0703-300747.AND NO OTHER NUMBER UNLESS COMMUNICATED HENCEFORTH". New facebook pages are cropping up to try and take advantage of the situation by asking for money donations. This is the offical page created by family members to pass any news or developments.Page Link: Rest in Peace Beth Nyambura Mbaya Aka Wanade
