This year’s Broadcast, Film & Music Africa Conference (BFMA), to be held at Nairobi’s prestigious Kenyatta International Conference Centre over 26-27 June 2013 will include the Africa Media Business Exchange (AMBE) to provide young companies in Africa’s emerging creative arts industry with an opportunity to pitch their production or market development ideas to potential investors. AITEC Africa and FilmBiz Africa, the continent’s leading magazine for the film industry, are co-hosting AMBE for the second year to bring investors and start-ups  together to accelerate new ventures in the sector.

Announcing AMBE 2013, Chiaka Orjiako Desmond, the editor of FimBiz Africa, said the Exchange has a vital role to play in stimulating investment in the sector. “We had very positive feedback on last year’s AMBE, with several deals confirmed following the event. This year we anticipate even more investment outcomes. This year, in partnership with Growth Africa, we will be running mentoring sessions with the start-ups on the first day of the conference to help them prepare their business plans and their pitches, which will all take place on the second day of the conference. In addition, we are expanding the scope of the Exchange to include script writers who want to pitch their story ideas to producers.”

Sean Moroney, Chairman of AITEC Africa, welcomed the opportunity to work with FilmBiz Africa again in hosting AMBE at BFMA. “The Exchange is a practical business platform to accelerate the growth of the continent’s emerging creative content industry, showcasing investment opportunities that would not otherwise attract investor attention. Last year there were three investment deals confirmed following the Exchange. This year we hope to at least double that level of success stories.”
