THE ROAD MOVIE “THE RETURN OF LAZARUS” KENYAN PREMIER
“The Return of Lazarus” first premiered to the kenyan audience on the 27th of October at the French Cultural Centre. The premiere was part of the 7th edition of Kenyan International Film Festival.
The Greek road movie was screened in front of a full house of film enthusiasts, members of the Greek community of Nairobi as well as known Kenyan actors like Lydia Gitachu, Brenda Wairimu, Ainea Ojiambo, Ken Ambani, Raymond Ofula, Maryam Ada, Gerald Langiri, the filmmaker Aggie Nyagari (Flick 7 pictures) and the fashion designer Diana Nekoye (aka Simbaress fashions) amongst others.
The lead actress Lizz Njagah together with the director Alex Konstantaras attended the screening and had a Q&A at the end where they answered questions from an enthusiastic crowd. The questions were mainly about the storyline but also about the experience of the two filming a movie in a different country. Lizz mentioned how the language barrier was initially a problem for her while Alex highlighted the weather challenges, as during October the weather in Greece is very unstable.
The second screening of the film under KIFF was on Thursday the 1st of November at Starflix cinemas, Prestige Plaza, at 3pm. The word is that the movie is very close to get a proper cinema distribution so the audience was lucky to watch it before an official cinema public screening.
Two brothers, Lazarus (Alexandros Koch) and Kiriakos (Nelson Lucas), set for a road trip in Maronia, Northern Greece, in order to find the mythical cave of the Cyclops. On their journey they meet different people including King’ora (Lizz NJagah), a Kenyan woman who works in a local motel.
