KENYA BAGS 5 AWARDS AT #ZIFF2015 WITH WAZI?FM TAKING 3

ZIFF is East Africa’s largest film, music and arts festival, bringing new talents together from all over the world for a Zanzibar Tamasha! Each year, some of the most captivating and cutting-edge cinema from Africa and beyond is screened in venues across the island. From world-premiers to local shorts, they’ve got it all, with a long history of showcasing the highest quality film from all over the world. Films are submitted based on a yearly theme – the theme this year was ‘Season of Visions’ – and entered into various categories and competitions. The final night is an awards night, where the winning films are recognised and celebrated.

Kenya was the biggest winners of this years ZIFF with 5 awards and the movie Wazi Fm grabbing 3 awards,namely:

Best East African Film Talent - STRENGTH OF A WOMAN – Dir: Gilbert Lukalia (Kenya)

Golden Dhow Award – Best Feature Film- WAZI ?FM – Dir: Faras Cavallo (Kenya)

EUROPEAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL AWARD- Best African Film- WAZI? FM- Dir: Faras Cavallo-(Kenya)

SIGNIS AWARDS - East African Talent Award- WAZI? FM- Dir: Faras Cavallo- (Kenya)

SOKO SONKO – Dir: Ekwa Msangi (Tanzania / Kenya) Sembene Ousmane Awards Film also received a cash prize token of $2000.

The Zanzibar International Film Festival Closed on the 26th of July.
