SHORT FILM "RELIEF" TAKES A LOOK AT KENYA IN THE YEAR 2034
Samora is a hustler in the defunct Nairobi city working as a motorcycle deliveryman. He encounters Alfa who pays him to deliver a box of Relief food each morning. The Relief food is donated by the Chinese government then distributed by the East African government. Tribal sidelining and marginalization sees some ethnic communities receiving sufficient Relief food, while others starve. Samora is aware that Alfa is using him as a middle-man to steal relief food from the government- run program and deliver it to starving members of a marginalized community but is unwilling to forfeit the generous tips that Alfa gives so he keeps up the deliveries. One day Alfa does not show up. Samora opens the box- what he finds inside has the potential to change the fate of the East African Federation.
Relief is a short film in stop-motion animation set in 2034, a time when East African leaders are haunted by an underground movement working to overturn the government, turning the entire region in to a guerrilla war zone.
