WINS “BEST NICHE MARKET BLOG” AT THE AFRICAN BLOGGER AWARDS 2014
The winners of the first annual African Blogger Awards - that saw over 520 entries from 27 African countries – have been announced. The competition received entries from all corners of the continent including Nigeria, Kenya, Benin, Mali, Morocco, Togo, Cameroon, Malawi and Eritrea, to name a few, with the diversity of nationalities being a clear indication that social media influencers across Africa have welcomed the opportunity to be measured quantitatively against their peers.
The 2014 African Blogger Awards are the first true, impartial measure of the reach, resonance and relevance of an influencer channel. The awards also mark the first time that winners have been announced based on scientific metrics, rather than through peer nominations.
The African Blogger Awards aims to acknowledge talented African social media influencers, bloggers, YouTubers and Instagrammers.
Marketers can now get in touch with all entrants to share branded advertorial content with these African audiences by using the competition partner, Webfluential.
Actors.co.ke won the best Niche blog in Africa with their unique content that centers on the Kenyan film and acting industry.
“Actors.co.ke has been nominated twice for the Kenyan blog awards (2013 and 2014) but never won. This award from the African Blogger Awards 2014 is however the 1st win that actors.co.ke has received and I am ecstatic. I would like to thank all our readers, followers and contributors who many are comprised of actors for their continued support. Our acting industry is growing in leaps and bound and we all have a part to play. It would be nice to have more blogs coming up to give support and appreciate our film industry. It is only when we start writing and talking about our film industry that interest will culminate to actually make sponsors comes in to invest their monies into it; Something which is lacking greatly at the moment. I am always looking for content and articles to share on our blog on acting and film related matters. So do send them in.” Said Gerald Langiri, Actor and founder of www.actors.co.ke
Actors.co.ke was launched in August 2011 and has grown to be the most influential blog in the acting and film industry in Kenya. You can find news and info about Kenya's acting industry, bios, photos and filmographies for character actors both famous and obscure. It has free listing of auditions and casting calls which has contributed to the industry being more transparent than it was before.
The other big winner of the awards from Kenya was David Mugo, the founder of Niaje.com whose blog won the Best African Blog award
