IS GO TV CLOSING? KENYAN SUBSCRIBERS RANT AS ZIMBABWE SIGNALS ARE SWITCHED OFF.
GO Tv subscribers have pounded on the Pay Television company social media pages to raise serious concerns about their inability to access services they have paid for. Go Tv has been reluctant to respond to these queries raising suspicion of a bigger problem that the company could be experiencing, but has not come out to explain the same to its subscribers.
This comes as the company’s subsidiary in Zimbabwe went off air since 31st January 2014 to what it claimed then was ‘issues beyond our control’ and requested their subscribers to be patient as they sorted the problem out but the company later turned around and offered refunds to all active subscribers amounting to $75 when they return the Go Tv decoder where they are then given an option to purchase a DStv single view decoder.
To date, subscribers are yet to get communication on what exactly transpired leading to the switch off of the Go Tv signal whereas the offer to refund active subscribers has led to increased subscriber discontent as they only get the same after being contacted by the company with majority complaining not to have been contacted more than two weeks after initiating the compensation efforts.
Complaints from customers in zimbabwe.
With two Pay Television companies having closed shop unceremoniously in Kenya and left thousands of subscribers with obsolete devices, Kenyans have been wary of signs that may yet again deal a similar blow to what GTV and Smart TV did in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
With the looming switch off of the analogue television signals in the country, Kenyans have been acquiring set top boxes aimed at enabling them access digital television services including GO Tv decoders and in the eventuality that GO Tv is experiencing a major problem, this would be a huge blow to Kenyans some of whom, could have lost when GTV and Smart Tv went off air.
Some of the comments picked up from GO Tv Kenya’s Facebook page include the below as subscribers threaten to go to court or dispose the set top boxes while seeking answers into just what is happening…answers we are eagerly waiting as well as to what exactly is going on? Is GO TV closing down is the big question. See below comments from disgrantled customers:
