Lemon Slice Pictures and Century Cinemax present: THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT:After a sleepless weekend they made it. Nairobi Did It! The 48 Hour Film Project was a wild and sleepless weekend (30th Nov-1st Dec 2013) in which 12 teams that registered, had a blast making a movie. All writing, shooting, editing and scoring had to be completed in just 48 hours and the movie submitted to the Jury by 7pm Sunday.

In 2001, The 48 Hour Film Project started as a local film challenge among friends. Since then, it has since evolved into a global phenomenon and the world’s largest filmmaking competition.

On 29th Nov, registered teams gathered at The Michael Joseph Center where they were given a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue they must work into their film. Films submitted even 1-minute late on 1st December 2013 will be disqualified and reports have it that out of the 12 teams registered only 8 made it in time and the rest were disqualified.

This year, Nairobi is one of a record 125 cities worldwide – from Beijing to Lisbon - competing in the 48 Hour Film Project. Submitted films will be screened for the public and judged by a panel of experts.  The screening will take place on Dec 10th to 11th at Century Cinemax, the junction with 2 screenings on both days: 10:30am (ksh 150) and 7pm (ksh 300). Awards Ceremony will be on the 13th December 2013 Time: 7:30pm at The Michael Joseph Center, HQ2 Waiyaki Way, Westlands

The Best Film from Nairobi will be chosen and winners will then be in the running for top honors in New Orleans, Louisiana at Filmapalooza 2014, the 48 Hour Film Project’s annual awards.  The top 12 films from this world-wide event will screen at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.
